Do you grant a commercial guarantee of durability on the product?

A voluntary promise by the producer or seller that the product will last, on top of the statutory legal guarantee that applies to every sale.

Does that guarantee last more than two years?

The label only concerns guarantees longer than the two-year mark.

Does it cover the whole product?

Not just a single component. A guarantee limited to one component generally does not trigger the label.

Is it offered at no extra cost?

Included with the product, not a paid extended-warranty add-on.

Do you advertise or communicate it to consumers?

On the product page, packaging or marketing. Advertising the guarantee is what triggers the obligation.

Yes, you likely need a GARAN label

All four conditions apply and you advertise the guarantee, so the label is triggered. You can create a spec-conformant label now, for free, from three inputs: duration, brand and model.

Likely not required

Without a commercial guarantee of durability beyond the statutory legal guarantee, the GARAN label is not triggered.

Likely not required

The GARAN label only concerns guarantees of more than two years. A guarantee of two years or less does not trigger it.

Likely not required

The guarantee must cover the whole product. One limited to a single component generally does not trigger the label.

Likely not required

The label concerns a guarantee offered at no extra cost. A paid extended-warranty add-on is a different case.

Likely not required

The obligation is triggered by advertising the guarantee to consumers. If you do not communicate it, the label is generally not required. Note that once you advertise it, the label becomes mandatory.
