Deadline

When is the GARAN label mandatory?

Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 was published on 2 October 2025 and, according to its wording, applies from 27 September 2026. From that date, advertising a qualifying commercial guarantee of durability without the GARAN label is not compliant. The official text is authoritative.

What happens on 27 September 2026

From the application date, sellers that advertise a qualifying durability guarantee must show the harmonised GARAN label with that advertising, online and in physical retail alike.

Why prepare early

Labelling a full catalogue takes preparation, especially across many products and languages. A few steps now avoid a last-minute scramble:

  • Review which products carry a guarantee of more than two years.
  • Decide the exact guaranteed duration per product.
  • Generate the labels (single, by CSV batch, or over the API).
  • Add the required clickable link next to each label shown online.

Does it apply in every EU country

Yes. The regulation is harmonised across the EU and the label itself is language-neutral, so the same label is valid in every member state.
