GARAN checklist: be ready by 27 September 2026
This checklist takes you to a compliant GARAN label under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 in four steps: check whether the obligation applies to your offer, create the label from the three editable fields in the right variant and format, add the required elements before you publish, and label a larger range by CSV or API. It is guidance, not legal advice.

1. Check whether it applies to you
The obligation is not tied to the product itself but to advertising a specific kind of guarantee. All four points must apply together:
- You advertise a commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years.
- The guarantee covers the whole product, not just a single component.
- It is offered at no extra cost to the buyer.
- It is advertised or communicated to consumers.
2. Create the label correctly
Only three fields are editable; every other element is fixed. Use the right variant and the right format for your channel:
- Enter the guarantee duration, brand and model (the duration as a value greater than two; half years such as 4.5 are allowed).
- Choose the variant: colour for online and retail, black-and-white for print and physical retail only, nested for online only.
- Choose the format per channel (SVG, PDF, PNG, JPG or WebP).
- Leave the title, symbols, legal notice, QR code and the Inter font unchanged; they are prescribed.
3. Check before you publish
A few required elements belong with the label and are easy to miss:
- Online, place the required clickable link to the same EU page as the QR code next to the label.
- In print, keep the minimum size of 95 by 100 mm.
- Do not crop the translation bar along the bottom edge.
- Keep the legal-guarantee notice available where it is required.
4. Plan for many products
Labelling a whole range by hand, one product at a time, is time-consuming and should be started well before 27 September 2026.

Frequently asked questions
By when must the GARAN label be ready?
By 27 September 2026. From that date it is no longer compliant to advertise a qualifying commercial guarantee of durability without the GARAN label.
What happens if I do not show the label?
From the application date it is not compliant to advertise a qualifying guarantee without the label. Enforcement rests with the competent national authorities. Check the official text and, where needed, legal advice for the consequences in your country.
Does the checklist apply to all products?
No. It applies when you advertise a guarantee of more than two years on the whole product at no extra cost. If that is not the case, you generally do not need a label.
Do I need an account to create a label?
Not for SVG, PNG and JPG. PDF and WebP unlock with a free account, which also keeps a personal library of your labels.
Is a label made with the generator officially binding?
The generator is an independent tool and not the official tool of the European Commission. It implements the Annex I and II templates to the best of our knowledge and is not legal advice; responsibility for correct labelling stays with the seller.
