Basics
What is the GARAN label?
The GARAN label is the EU-wide harmonised label for the commercial guarantee of durability introduced by Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960. It signals that a producer voluntarily guarantees a product for more than the two years already covered by the statutory legal guarantee. Only three fields are variable; the title, symbols, legal reminder and QR code are fixed.
What the label communicates
GARAN is a single, recognisable mark used across the whole EU, so shoppers see the same label whatever the country or language. It shows the guaranteed duration in years together with the brand and the model it applies to.
Because the design is harmonised, the label works as a trust signal: it tells buyers, at a glance, that a product is backed by a longer commercial guarantee than the law already requires.
What is fixed and what you can change
Exactly three fields are editable. Everything else is fixed by Annexes I and II of the regulation and must not be altered.
- Editable: the guarantee duration in years (a value greater than two).
- Editable: the brand or manufacturer name.
- Editable: the model identifier.
- Fixed: the GARAN title, the tick and calendar symbols, the legal guarantee reminder and the QR code.
Where the label appears
Online, the label is shown in colour next to the product, together with a clickable link to the official EU explanation. In physical retail it is printed at a minimum size of 95 by 100 mm, with the translation strip at the bottom kept intact.

Frequently asked questions
Is the GARAN label mandatory?
It becomes mandatory when you advertise a commercial durability guarantee of more than two years on the whole product at no extra cost. See the guide on who needs a label.
Is GARAN the same as the legal guarantee?
No. The statutory legal guarantee applies automatically to every sale. GARAN concerns an additional, voluntary commercial guarantee beyond it.
