Press release
First analysis by the GARAN Generator: demand remains high after the deadline, and almost half of all visitors come from outside Germany
Essen, Germany, 7 October 2026. Since its launch on 10 July 2026, the GARAN Generator by media:meets GmbH has produced a total of 27,450 GARAN labels. This is shown by an anonymised analysis of usage data published today by the Essen-based company. The most common guarantee duration is five years. The deadline of 27 September 2026 concentrated demand but did not end it. Hundreds of new labels are still being created every day.
Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 has applied since 27 September 2026. It sets out the uniform design of the GARAN label, which businesses across the EU use to mark a commercial guarantee of durability of more than two years. Only three details on the label are variable: guarantee duration, brand and model. The GARAN Generator turns them into a finished label in several variants and file formats.
Key figures at a glance
| Figure | Value |
|---|---|
| GARAN labels generated since 10 July 2026 | 27,450 |
| Of which in September 2026 | 22,072 (80%) |
| Busiest day | 25 September 2026 with 2,465 labels |
| Labels per day after the deadline (28 September to 6 October) | 686 on average |
| Users labelling a five-year guarantee | 70% |
| Labels produced in colour only | 94% |
| Visitors from outside Germany | 49% |
Five years has become the standard
Of the users who saved labels, 70% created at least one label with a five-year guarantee. Some way behind are three years (37% of users), ten years (23%) and four years (11%). Measured by the number of labels, 48% carry five years.
Half years also play a role: durations such as 2.5 or 4.5 years are labelled regularly. Guarantees of more than ten years are rare, accounting for 3.4% of saved labels.
"The figures show that a typical guarantee duration emerged in the market very quickly. For most businesses, five years is the period by which they cover their products beyond the legal guarantee," says Marvin Schröder, Managing Director of media:meets GmbH. "To our knowledge, there are hardly any public figures yet on how the GARAN label is used in practice. With this analysis we want to close that gap."
The deadline concentrated demand rather than ending it
Four in five labels (80%) were created in September 2026. In the final week before the deadline alone, from 20 to 27 September, 8,559 labels were generated, almost a third of all labels since launch. The busiest day was Friday, 25 September, with 2,465 labels.
Demand did not collapse after the deadline. In the nine days from 28 September to 6 October, 6,175 labels were added, an average of 686 per day. That is 93% of the September daily average. For many businesses, labelling is therefore not a one-off task for the deadline but part of ongoing catalogue maintenance: new products and changed guarantees need new labels.
Colour, PDF and PNG as the standard
Output choices show clear preferences:
- Variant: 94% of labels are produced in the colour variant only. The nested variant, which shows only the guarantee duration and is intended for online shops, is used for 6% of labels, the black and white variant for 5%.
- Format: 83% of labels are exported as PDF, 82% as PNG, 37% as JPG, 29% as SVG and 15% as WebP. Several formats per label are possible.
- Resolution: 79% of labels use the default width of 1000 pixels.
The combination of PDF and PNG points to a dual use: PDF for print and packaging, PNG for product pages and marketplaces.
Most common error: two years or less
14% of uploaded CSV rows could not be processed. In 97% of those cases no guarantee duration of more than two years was given. The GARAN label is intended only for commercial guarantees of durability of more than two years, that is, for commitments that go beyond the legal guarantee. The generator therefore rejects shorter durations. The guide Who needs a GARAN label? explains when the label applies.
A tool for the working day
The GARAN label is a topic for specialist teams in retail and manufacturing, and the usage pattern reflects this: 95% of all labels are created Monday to Friday, 91% between 8 am and 6 pm (CEST). Most labels are generated between 2 pm and 3 pm.
Visitors from 51 countries
The GARAN label applies across the EU, and the audience reflects that. Between 6 September and 3 October 2026, visitors came from 51 countries. Just over half came from Germany, 49% from other countries. The ten countries with the most visitors:
- Germany (51%)
- France (4%)
- Netherlands (4%)
- Croatia (3%)
- Spain (3%)
- Czechia (3%)
- Poland (3%)
- Romania (3%)
- Austria (3%)
- China (2%)
"The fact that almost every second visitor comes from outside Germany confirms the European nature of the label," says Schröder. "The label has the same design in every member state, and the interest in a simple solution is correspondingly international."
Methodology
- Period: 10 July to 6 October 2026, as of 6 October 2026.
- Labels generated counts every label produced in the GARAN Generator, by CSV batch or via the API.
- Guarantee durations, variants, formats and resolution are based on the labels of registered users. Labels generated without signing in are not stored and are not included.
- Only anonymised, aggregated values were analysed. Brands, model identifiers and any other details of individual users are not part of the analysis. Shares are rounded.

About the GARAN Generator
The GARAN Generator creates the EU harmonised GARAN label for the commercial guarantee of durability under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960 from three inputs: guarantee duration, brand and model. Labels are available in colour, black and white and as a nested variant, and as SVG, PDF, PNG, JPG and WebP. Single labels are free; CSV batch generation and an API are available for whole catalogues. The GARAN Generator is an independent tool and not a tool of the European Commission.
